Courses & Registration

 

Incoming 7th Grade Students Living Within Clayton Middle School Boundaries

and/or Attending Bonneville, Emerson, Hawthorne, Indian Hills, or Uintah Elementary Schools

1. January/February: Follow the course selection process at your student’s elementary school. If your student lives in our boundaries, once they complete selecting courses, they will be considered “pre-registered”. Click here for further instructions. Haga clic aqui para leer mas informacion.

  • If you do not live in our boundaries, but your student attends one of our feeder schools and would like to attend Clayton please complete an Open Window or Special Permit application (See: Out of Boundary Students information below). Be sure to know whether or not your student has been accepted (letters will be mailed home) before proceeding to the following steps. Once you receive confirmation your student has been accepted and they have completed course selection, they will then be considered “pre-registered”.

2. July: Letters will be mailed home to our pre-registered students with further instructions to complete the online registration (until you are given a Registration PIN you will not be able to access the online registration link).

3. August: In-Person Registration at Clayton.

All incoming 7th graders MUST present an up-to-date record of immunizations at registration and be CURRENT in order to obtain their class schedule and complete registration.

For children whose parents claim an exemption to immunization for medical, religious, or personal reasons, an appropriate Utah Department of Health Exemption form must be completed and presented.

 

Out of Boundary Students

Students who wish to attend a school other than their boundary school for the 2017-18 school year may apply during the Open Enrollment period (December 1, 2016-February 17, 2017) for the 2017-2018 school year or by submitting a Special Permit application after the Open Enrollment window has closed. All applications will be considered at the Principal’s discretion.

Open Enrollment: Applications available (December-February) in the Student Services Department at the Salt Lake City School District Office (440 East 100 South). There is a $5.00 processing fee, however, it may be waived for qualifying applicants.

Special Permit: Applications available at Clayton Middle School. Special Permits are good for the application school year only. There is a $5.00 processing fee, however, it may be waived for qualifying applicants.

Open Enrollment applicants will receive a mailed letter in mid-March with admittance information and further instructions.

 

NEW/TRANSFER Students

If your student is new to the area or is transferring from another school please present the following documents to register your student:

  1. Birth Certificate

  2. Immunizations–Required by law for a child entering school (an up-to-date record of all immunizations MUST BE PRESENTED at registration, and student MUST BE CURRENT). Please click here to see required immunizations.

  1. Proof of residence--Please bring a copy of a mortgage/lease agreement or recent utility bill (must be gas, electric, or light) confirming your permanent residence.
