Linda Carter Richins: August 21, 1958 - March 26, 2018

Dear Clayton Community,

It is with great sadness that we inform you that our friend and colleague, Linda Richins, passed away last week. Mrs. Richins served as the principal of Clayton Middle School for 9 years and retired last June after 35 years in education. She left a remarkable impact on Clayton as a leader who always focused on students, was innovative and proactive with school improvements, and loved education. Many of the programs that serve students so well here are the direct result of Linda’s advocacy for Clayton and most of the wonderful faculty were hired by Linda. She cared deeply for the Clayton community and worked tirelessly for the benefit of students. Her passing is a tremendous loss to those who knew and loved her.

Linda spent 35 years in education, most of it in the Salt Lake City School District. She taught at Jackson Elementary, Dilworth Elementary and Roslyn Heights Elementary school. She worked as a school counselor, the district homeless liaison, an assistant principal at Whittier Elementary and Highland High School, and spent the last 9 years of her career as the principal of Clayton Middle School.

Here is a link to her obituary where you can also leave a message for her family. Mrs. Richins’ family has also requested that in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Salt Lake Education Foundation (in the memo state that it is for Clayton Middle School).

Lastly, we invite you to attend a Celebration of Linda’s Life to be held at Clayton Middle School (1470 South 1900 East) on Monday, April 9th, 2018 from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.
