Joni Myres

About Me

Joni Myres is in her fifth year at Clayton and fifth year overall in the teaching profession. Myres graduated from West Texas A&M University, which is located near her hometown of Amarillo, Texas, with a degree in biology in 2012.

While attending WTAMU, Myres was both an All-American in the classroom and on the court, while playing collegiate basketball. She helped lead her team to three conference titles and a NCAA Elite Eight appearance.

Myres moved to Salt Lake City in 2014 shortly after getting married to her husband, Dameon, who works in the athletics department at the University of Utah (Go Utes!). They have one daughter named Leighton who was born in 2017. They also have a fur-baby, a beagle named Luke.

Myres is highly devoted to educating young minds in the subject of science. She found her love for the subject thanks in large part to her high school science teacher and she has hopes that her students will find the same love for science just like she did.
